Publisher's description of Mp3nity
Mp3nity is an intelligent MP3 tagger (tag editor) and manager and a CD ripper, designed for those who deal constantly with a large number of MP3 files. It has a very simple interface that allows you to browse multiple folders simultaneously, edit a large list of unsorted MP3s in seconds, autofix tags instantly, undo mistakes, export lists, move, copy, and delete files, and get lyrics and pictures from the Web. You get all this in a multithreaded environment for the most efficient performance and fastest management possible. Mp3nity can connect to major online databases to correct and complete your collection tags. It also can parse filenames and, inversely, features a versatile renamer/foldering system that allows you to organize files quickly and easily. It supports both ID3 v1,ID3 v2, lyrics, and picture tags.
Editor's review of Mp3nity
Combining flexible and speedy ID3 tag editing in an elegant interface, Mp3nity suffers only from a narrow focus. The small download installs quickly, after which you are presented with a functional and attractive multipane interface. Select folders from the tree view, and their MP3 contents immediately are displayed in a listing pane, which displays useful information such as bit rate and genre. However, we found we couldn't customize which columns appear. Also, you will see only MP3 files, as Mp3nity doesn't recognize any other kind of audio format. You can select multiple files in the list pane and batch-change ID3 fields in the tag pane. Mp3nity also includes functions for automatically parsing filenames to generate tags and for automatically renaming files based on ID3 tags. The program includes a CD ripper, a feature not often found in tag editors, along with album art and Internet searching for lyrics. As a nice additional feature, the free and included Mp3nity Lite integrates with Windows Explorer to give you right-click tag editing. However, the regular version's 10-day evaluation period is a bit short for our taste. Mp3nity is a good and solid ID3 tag editor, although we wish it would expand its horizons beyond MP3s.

ZipGenius 6.0.2.106
Download Now (4.92MB)
Tested spyware free
Publisher's description of ZipGenius
ZipGenius has all the functions of a typical compression utility plus a ton of extra features. It not only zips and unzips but also offers support for 21 compression and encoding and decoding formats, ZIP encryption and decryption, Pocket PC support via ActiveSync, drag-and-drop support, integration in the Windows shell, the ability to send archives via e-mail, and Web publishing of archives and files via FTP and TWAIN devices.
Version 6.0.2.106 fixes some security flaws.
Editor's review of ZipGenius
Here's a concept: software that works for you, not against you. This handy and free ZIP application lets you customize to your heart's content so you can get the most out of the program. Program functions can be accessed either from a large, colorful menu of buttons on the main toolbar, or from a drop-down menu. If you don't like the look of either, you can change them to suit your preferences. ZipGenius works with close to two dozen file formats. Other useful options include protecting archives with a password and working directly with CD-R/RW drivers. Overall, this is a great resource for creating and maintaining ZIP files.

This is my new friend, his name is ZipGenius. He knows all archive types.
by: CableguyTK on 04-Feb-2006 02:09:25 PM
Pros: Its free.
It mimics the XP look and feel to a T.
Comes with skinning support.
Supports reading any archive under the sun, including RedHat RPM, Mac SQX, Quake 1/2/3/4 PAK, Linux BZIP, RAR, ACE, 7Zip, TAR, Java JAR.
It supports creation of a lot of archive types: ZIP, RPM, 7ZIP, TAR, Frontpage Web Packages?????????? *****?!!!!! FWP!!!!!. LOL...quite the "*****" factor with FWP.
It lets you customize every bit of the interface.
Has a tool to export arhive information to file: TXT, CSV, HTML or XML file :). That is more than WinRAR gives you!
The interface for viewing archive contents is top notch.
It includes all your standard WinRAR functions, like create SFX, split archive into volumes (which, mind I note, presents the options in a very colorful way easy for determining what size volumes you want...a much better interface than WinRAR's), password protection, encryption and decryption, archive repair, etc.
You can download PLUGINS!!!! There are maybe 5 or 6 available on the homepage, all of which are quite useful.
Integrates Windows XP's built in CD burning tool very well.
Cons: It doesn't support creation of ACE or RAR. They might have to take the route of TUGZip and build plugins which will take the winrar and winace exe files to create ACE and RAR.
Would be nice if it could become a bit like UltraISO and support reading of cd images...however there is a plugin on the website which lets you convert a ZIP image to an ISO, so I would presume this program can read ISO cd image files.

Pros: Free, has good compression in almost all modes, even expert interface is very simple to use, compression is fast.
Cons: Only problem i've seen is if you set a virus scanning executable to run when you open a file within an archive, it bothers you everytime asking you after the virus scan completes if it found a virus. I think that it should not ask you that everytime, but rather let the antivirus handle it if there is a virus. Other than that, very good program

good and simple
by: torejorgen on 30-Mar-2007 03:35:09 AM
Pros: As always from Ashampoo, a nice looking simple user interface.
It can do many things, i've ripped my hole cd-collection to mp3. It gets album info from a online database, works great!
If you download an album, the filenames are long with stupid nicks and info, and it looks just ugly, with MS3 you can clean up that mess quickly and ad the missing ID3-tag info and so on..
it can also burn music cd's and repair broken audio files... And much more...
I bought it for $8.50, pay atention to offers on the Ashampoo site...
Cons: It crashed a couple of time, and it made a "undeletable" empty folder...
Ashampoo keeps sending me "offers" by e-mail, i call it spam...

Intuitive, powerful, multi-tasker, works every time
by: ivorybow on 28-Feb-2007 09:26:53 AM
Pros: After going through many audio management programs, including the frustrating Windows Media, looking for a simple, reliable multipurpose audio file program, I found Music Studio 3. I cannot say enough good things about this program. It only took me a few minutes to learn, and it's almost totally intuitive. It does everything you could ever want to do with audio files, all in one package. It will even record sound off your computer, and in multiple formats. This is the one...love it! And, Ashampoo is very good to work with...they are very reasonable and the prices are more than fair.
Cons: none so far..works like a charm

The extremely easy-to-use File Renamer allows you to rename many files at once based on a wide set of options, even while viewing thumbnails. Better than what I expected
by: bealie on 15-Jul-2007 11:38:29 PM
Pros: I first used CKRename. Great program, liked it a lot, was very happy with it. I decided to give this one a try just for the heck of it. Wow--even better! I haven't done much with it so far, but I'm able to rename files in one step that took CKRename two. I'm keeping CKRename for simple renaming tasks, but for everything else, I'm using File Renamer.
Cons: File Renamer causes my DVD drive to spin, which is annoying. I have to collapse My Computer in the File Renamer directory tree to get it to stop. Also, if I delete a folder that is within a folder that is selected in File Renamer, the program will crash. (For example, folder A has folder B in it. If I want to delete B, I have to make sure neither A nor B is selected in File Renamer.)

Pros: people will buy it cause it looks pretty
Cons: 1. doesn't show total size of all pictures in one folder (how it's possible?!). do they think it's irrelevant to know how big the folder is??
2. resize tool sucks big time as there is no way to specify quality if image, hence the quality loos is BIG
3. unlike version 4 this one doesn't store setttings for each folder
4. you cannot copy or move folder by using shortcuts shift+c, shift+m (why??!!!!)
5, you cannot play media files outside of this program. why?!
6. it's buggy. sometimes switching between raport, thumbnails or summary doesn't work
